When I was a child living in the small Italian village of Gaeta, my mother would always bake plenty of sweets, or dolci, for the holidays and whenever company came by.

I wanted to keep that childhood memory with me forever. So today, I use that very recipe to make biscotti for my own grandchildren. The only change I’ve made is to add all-natural, dry roasted hazelnuts from our family farm here in Oregon.

All of this attention to recreating the very same dolci from an old family recipe is worth it when I hear my grandchildren say, “May we have some more biscotti, Sweet Nana?”
